Garrett Allen (they/them) is a Brooklyn based artist. Their main interest is in combating spectator and audience passivity by creating visceral and actively engaging experiences. They are a recent graduate of Harvard University with a B.A. in Cognitive Neuroscience and Evolutionary Psychology and a secondary concentration in Theater, Dance, and Media. At Harvard, they directed as well as produced, stage managed, and light designed. They are a recipient of the Harvard Office for the Arts Artist Development Fellowship and Louis Donovan Award for their work as a director, designer, and mentor. They have worked in artistic capacities at American Repertory Theater, Soho Rep., and New 42nd Street/New Victory Theater. Their video and performance art works have been exhibited at Harvard, INDEX Festival @ Knockdown Center, Signal Gallery, and in print/online publications.
